20 Yard Dumpster Rental in Mooresville, NC
Our most-rented container, and the default answer for kitchen guts, multi-room renovations and serious cleanouts. Same footprint as a 30 yard with lower walls that are easier to load by hand.
A 20 yard is about twenty-two feet long and four and a half feet tall, holding six to eight pickup loads. It is the size we deliver more than any other, because it matches the scale of most real household projects.
- Capacity20 cubic yards
- Footprint22 ft x 8 ft x 4.5 ft
- Weight allowance3 – 4 tons
- Holds about~6 – 8 pickup truck loads
Why people choose the 20 yard
The walls are low enough to load by hand comfortably, which matters when you are lifting cabinets and furniture rather than tipping a wheelbarrow.
It handles mixed renovation debris well — drywall, cabinetry, flooring, fixtures, framing offcuts and general household contents in the same load.
It is the right size for a three-bedroom house cleanout, a full kitchen gut, or a 20-to-30 square roof tear-off. For a whole lifetime of contents, look at the 30 yard.
Good fit for
- Kitchen and multi-room renovations
- Three-bedroom house cleanouts
- Roof tear-offs of 20–30 squares
- Large garage and basement clear-outs
- Deck and porch demolition
- Pre-listing property clear-outs
- Small commercial fit-outs and office refreshes
- Tenant turnover and rental clean-ups
Not the right size for
- Concrete, brick and heavy masonry (use a 10 yard)
- Excavation spoil and clay
- Whole-estate clear-outs with contents from every room
Will it fit?
Occupies most of a standard two-car driveway. Needs about 22 feet of length, 8 to 10 feet of width, roughly 60 feet of clear approach and 23 feet of overhead clearance for the hoist.
Before delivery, move cars and bins, mark irrigation heads and septic lids, and tell us about new concrete, soft ground, a steep grade or low power lines. Our delivery and driveway protection guide covers all of it.

Is a 20 yard enough for a full kitchen renovation?
For a standard kitchen gut — cabinets, countertop, appliances, flooring, drywall and subfloor — yes, comfortably. If the floor is tile on a mortar bed, or you are taking out walls as well, mention it when you book because that adds real weight rather than volume.
How does a 20 yard compare to a 30?
Same length and width, so the same driveway footprint. The 30 is about eighteen inches taller, which gives you fifty percent more volume without needing more space. The trade-off is that the higher walls are harder to load by hand and the weight allowance runs out sooner on dense material.
Can I put concrete in a 20 yard?
Only in small quantities mixed with other debris, and even then it is risky. A 20 yard filled with concrete would weigh far beyond legal transport limits. Any real volume of concrete, brick or dirt belongs in a dedicated 10 yard heavy container.
How many days do I get with a 20 yard?
The standard rental window covers most household projects comfortably and we confirm the exact period when you book. If you want longer, say so up front and we will build it into the flat rate rather than adding a daily charge afterwards.
Will a 20 yard damage my driveway?
We lay protection boards under the wheels and rails on every residential drop, which spreads the load. Asphalt in Piedmont summer heat is the main risk, so we favour morning deliveries on asphalt drives. Concrete under about a month old should not take a loaded container at all.
