Roll-off containers for Terrell homes and jobsites

Terrell is a quiet unincorporated stretch of Catawba County directly across the water from us, and it is one of the shortest crossings we make. The community centers on the NC-150 and Sherrills Ford Road junction, with lakefront lanes fanning out toward the main channel. Because so much of Terrell is second homes, boating property and wooded acreage, the jobs skew toward cottage renovations, deck and dock rebuilds, seasonal cleanouts and the occasional full teardown. Roads narrow quickly once you leave NC-150, so we plan the last mile carefully rather than assuming a truck can turn anywhere.

What we know about working in Terrell

Much of Terrell's lakefront was built out in the 1970s and 1980s as modest cottages and A-frames, and those are steadily being expanded, gutted or replaced by larger year-round homes. That transition produces mixed demolition loads with framing, old paneling, single-pane windows, carpet and worn decking. Newer construction along Slanting Bridge Road and the NC-150 corridor adds a different flow of clean construction waste and landscaping debris. Lots tend to be wooded and sloped toward the water, with steep, curving driveways and limited flat ground, which is the single biggest constraint on where a container can sit. Nearly every property is on septic. Boating season runs the calendar here: owners want work finished before Memorial Day and often schedule demolition for late fall, when the crossing traffic on NC-150 also thins out considerably.

Getting a truck to you

From the yard it is NC-150 west across the Lake Norman bridge, then a short run to the Sherrills Ford Road intersection where Terrell centers. From there the lake lanes drop off quickly and get narrow, steep and tree-lined with almost no shoulder. We ask about driveway slope and overhead limbs ahead of time, because a roll-off cannot back down a pitched gravel drive with a blind curve at the bottom.

Routes we run: NC-150, Sherrills Ford Road, Slanting Bridge Road, Greenwood Road.

Permits, HOAs and placement in Terrell

On private driveways in Terrell you generally do not need a municipal permit. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter and normally requires approval — from the local municipality where the road is town-maintained, or from NCDOT where it is state-maintained. Many Catawba County subdivisions also carry covenants that limit how long a container may sit, require it on the driveway rather than the kerb, or ask for architectural-review notification before a renovation begins. Check with your HOA before you book — it is a ten-minute call that saves a week.

Our permit and placement guide walks through the whole process, and NCDEQ publishes the state's landfill disposal bans that apply to every load we haul out of Terrell.

Dumpster Rental in Terrell — FAQs

Can you get a truck down a steep lakefront driveway in Terrell?

Often, but not always. Roll-offs need a reasonably straight approach and firm footing to set and retrieve a container, and a steep drive with a tight curve at the bottom can rule it out. When that happens we place near the top of the drive or on a level pad and the crew hauls to it, which is safer than risking a slide toward the water.

Is there a best time of year for lake house demolition here?

Late fall through early spring is the sweet spot. Boating season crowds the community and nearly every owner wants exterior work finished before Memorial Day. Scheduling in the off season also means easier crossings on NC-150, softer contractor demand, less dust drifting toward neighbors, and far more flexibility on delivery and pickup windows for you.

What can I not put in the container on a cottage remodel?

Paint, solvents, fuel, propane tanks, marine batteries and refrigerant-bearing appliances all need to be handled separately, and those turn up constantly in lake cottage cleanouts. Old shingles, framing, drywall, carpet, cabinets and decking are all fine. If you find asbestos siding or floor tile in a 1970s build, stop and call for abatement guidance.

How quickly can you deliver a dumpster to Terrell?

Terrell is about 11 miles west of Mooresville, so it is a routine run for us. Same-day delivery is usually possible if you call before about 11am, and next morning otherwise. Storm weeks and the spring remodeling peak can stretch that, and we will tell you honestly when you call.

Do you charge extra to deliver to Terrell?

No. Terrell sits inside our standard service area and the flat rate is the same as it is in Mooresville. Delivery, pickup, your rental window and disposal up to the agreed tonnage are all included in the number we quote you.

What size dumpster do most Terrell customers take?

A 20 yard is the most common by a wide margin — it suits kitchen guts, multi-room renovations and three-bedroom house cleanouts. Heavy material such as concrete, brick and Piedmont clay goes in a 10 yard heavy container instead, regardless of how big the job feels.
