Sizing for brush versus stumps
Woody brush is the definition of bulky-and-light: you will fill a 30 yard with limbs long before you approach a tonnage limit, so size up freely. Stumps, root balls and soil are the opposite — a handful of them will exhaust a weight allowance while the container looks nearly empty. If your job is a mix, tell us the rough proportion and we will either split it across two containers or set an allowance that reflects reality. The most common mistake is ordering a 30 for a job that is really stumps.

After severe weather the order matters. Downed power lines first — assume every line is live, call Duke Energy, and never touch a limb resting on a conductor. Then unstable leaning trees and hanging limbs, which belong to a certified arborist and not to you and a borrowed chainsaw. Then document everything with photos before you move a stick, because your insurer will want it. Only then does the cleanup start. When you are ready we can usually get a container out next day, and sooner in an emergency. Saturated red clay is soft after a storm, so we will assess whether the ground will take a loaded truck.

Can I put yard waste in with other debris?
You can, but it usually costs more. Clean woody brush can go to a mulch or compost facility at a lower rate than mixed debris disposal, and North Carolina bans yard trash from lined landfills anyway. If you have a big volume of clean brush, keep it separate and it works out cheaper.
How much brush fits in a 20 yard?
More than you think, and less than you hope. Limbs pack badly because of all the air between them. Cutting brush down and stacking it rather than throwing it in whole can easily gain you a third more capacity. A large mature limb-out or a whole small tree will fill a 20 on its own.
Can you take stumps and root balls?
Yes, but they need to be sized for weight, not volume. A few large stumps with clay still attached will exhaust a container's weight allowance while it still looks empty. Tell us how many and roughly how big when you call.
How fast can you come out after a storm?
We prioritise storm work and can often deliver next day, sometimes same day. Call as early as you can — after a widespread event across Iredell County everybody calls at once, and the containers go out in order.
Should I use the town collection instead?
If your volume is small and you are not in a hurry, town and county yard waste programmes are the cheapest route and worth using.
