Roofing Dumpster Rental in Mooresville, NC
Weight-rated containers sized for shingle tear-offs and placed on the side your crew is working. Morning drops on asphalt driveways, boards down as standard.
Roofing is the one job where volume is almost never the constraint. Shingles are heavy. A 25 square architectural roof is four to five tons before you add felt, nails, ridge vent, flashing and any rotten decking you find. Order by cubic yards and you will hit the weight limit with the container two thirds empty.
We size roofing containers by squares and layers, not by how big the pile looks. Tell us the roof area, the pitch and how many layers are up there, and we will give you a size and a tonnage allowance that actually matches the job.
Placement matters just as much. The container goes on the tear-off side, close enough for the crew to pitch into, and far enough off new concrete and pavers to keep everyone happy.
What we handle on a roofing job
Asphalt shingle tear-offs
Three-tab or architectural, single or multi-layer. The bread and butter.
Multi-layer removals
A second or third layer on a pre-1990 house doubles or triples your tonnage. Tell us before we deliver.
Decking replacement
Rotten sheathing and boards discovered mid-tear-off. Bulky but not heavy.
Flat and low-slope roofing
Modified bitumen, EPDM and the insulation board under it.
Storm and hail damage work
Insurance-timeline jobs where the container has to land the same day the crew does.
Gutters, fascia and trim
Aluminium gutter is worth separating as scrap. Fascia and trim ride along fine.
Metal roofing removal
Almost entirely recoverable as scrap. Keep it separate and it costs less to handle.
Commercial re-roofs
Larger volumes, scheduled swaps, often overnight or weekend access.
Squares, layers and the tonnage maths
A roofing square is 100 square feet. Standard three-tab runs roughly 220 to 250 pounds a square; architectural or dimensional shingles run roughly 350 to 450. On a steep-pitch Lake Norman custom home the pitch multiplier can add 20 to 30 percent to the area over the house footprint, which catches people out. As a rule of thumb: up to about 20 squares of single-layer sits comfortably in a 15 yard, 20 to 30 squares wants a 20 yard, and beyond that or on multi-layer we would rather stage two containers than send one out overweight. A 30 yard is almost never right for shingles — you will hit weight long before volume and an overloaded container cannot legally leave your driveway.

North Carolina summers do two things to a roofing job. Asphalt shingles soften and stick, which is why good crews tear off in the morning. And asphalt driveways soften too, which is why we put boards under the wheels and rails and favour early drops on an asphalt drive. We will set the container on the tear-off side so the crew can pitch straight in rather than carry, and we will keep the rails off new concrete and pavers. Roll a magnet over the drive when you are done — nails are the complaint we hear most often about other people's roofing jobs.

Roofing Dumpster Rental FAQs
What size dumpster for a roof tear-off?
Up to about 20 squares of single-layer architectural shingle usually fits a 15 yard. From 20 to 30 squares, take a 20 yard. Multi-layer roofs roughly double or triple the weight, so tell us the layer count when you call — that changes the answer more than the square footage does.
Can I put decking and gutters in with the shingles?
Yes. Old sheathing, felt, flashing, fascia, trim and gutters all travel with a tear-off load fine. Keep out anything banned from landfill disposal in North Carolina, and keep sealant cans, torches and propane cylinders well clear.
Will the container fit on a driveway with a steep grade?
Usually, but tell us. Steep lakefront driveways are common around here and a container should never be placed where gravity can move it. Our driver will assess the grade on arrival and will suggest a flatter spot or the street if the drive is genuinely too steep.
How soon can you deliver for a storm or hail job?
Same day when we can, next morning as standard. Insurance-driven roofing work tends to arrive in clusters after a storm, so the earlier you call the better your chances of a same-day slot.
Do you offer accounts for roofing contractors?
Yes, and most of our roofing customers use one. Accounts get priority scheduling, next-morning delivery, same-week swaps and consolidated invoicing so you are not chasing tickets across six jobs.
